iPhone 3.1 Issues Fixed Here

With the latest release of software with iPhone 3.1, there have been a few issues reported with battery life, Mobile Me, and sluggish response times.
But before you take your iPhone back to your local Apple store or authorized iPhone retailer, like WalMart or BestBuy, realize that it's all software, and no hardware. Here are some things you can do to help with these issues that will get you through the next iPhone update:

1. Back up your iPhone through iTunes before you try any of these steps and make sure you're using the most recent download of iTunes. While that seems basic, people often forget and then get disappointed when their texts and pictures disappear.

2. Reset your iPhone. Just like with any other hardware, you should restart your iPhone after the install. Simply press and hold both the square button and the power button at the same time, until your cell phone turns off and then turns back on.

3. Restore your iPhone. Instead of selecting update on your iTunes, select 'restore'. This will remove all information, applications, and pictures off your iPhone, which will make you really glad that you already made that backup in step one.

4. Mobile Me has also been known to decrease response times with iPhone 3.1. If this happens:
1. Launch the Settings App.
2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Go to your MobileMe account
4. Turn off contacts and calendars
5. When prompted, delete them from your iPhone
6. Reset your iPhone by holding down the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears.
7. Perform steps 1-5, but this time turn contacts and calendar syncing on.
If the above steps do not resolve the problem, another alternative is to delete your Mobile Me account, reset, and set up a new account from scratch.

While this won't fix every problem with iPhone software, be aware that Apple is actively tracking the problems and working to resolve them with a future firmware update.
