BlackBerry World Phone Drops a Lot of Calls
Is your new Blackberry World Phone dropping a lot of calls? Frustrating, for sure, but with a push of a couple of buttons, you can experience fewer dropped calls and a much better day.
Most of the dropped calls in your Blackberry are just the nature of cell phones in themselves; the ability to search out the strongest and clearest signal. When you have a cell phone like the BlackBerry Tour that handles two different types of technology, you're bound to have problems.
World phones can handle two different types of towers: CDMA and GSM. Your phone only has service on one (CDMA for Verizon), but scans for whatever tower is strongest and clearest. If that happens to be a GSM tower, then your phone will drop the call. Most times, the person who set up your phone didn't recognize that fact, and has set your phone to handle both 1XEV and GSM, setting you up for disaster.
It's an easy fix, however, and you just have to spend a moment to fix it. Simply go into your Setup menu, then Mobile Networks, and finally, turn your network type to Home Only (1XEV). Save it, and you're done.
Just remember, if you wish to take it overseas, turn it back to GSM.
