T-Mobile MyTouch Makes a Small Splash in a Big Pond
In what seems like another phone launch in an ocean of phone launches, the T-Mobile MyTouch has been released today, making only small ripples. BestBuy, who offered presales on the phones has seen little movement, and the fanfare that should accompany such a big launch just wasn't there.
The MyTouch is a second phone launched with Google's Android software, and is a successor to the legacy left from the G-1 (remember when phones had model numbers rather than names?). Both products are made by HTC, and have only minor differences, such as the lack of the fold out keyboard, and a slightly different (more aerodynamic) form factor.
The product does have WiFi, but will require a data plan of 14.99 or better to purchase (unlimited text will work nicely for those folks not wanting to step up to the 24.99 data plan or 34.99 data and text bundle). With the advances in 3G coverage for T-Mobile in recent weeks, we recommend getting the data plan.
The phone sports a 3.2 inch screen and a 3.2 megapixel camera, and some of the most beautiful packaging we've seen in a smartphone (nobody packages phones like HTC). The phone itself is available in Black and Merlot, and will run about 199.99 with a qualified upgrade or new two year subscription with T-Mobile.
