Sprint/Nextel sinks to new lows
Not only is Sprint/Nextel currently engaged in a class action lawsuit with its employees, it has found a new way to spread holiday cheer: Both laying off 2,000 to 2,000 employees by December 31st, 2009, and slipping its WiMax partner Clearwire a cool billion dollars.
Now, of course Sprint hasn't announced this through its website, instead opting to announce the $350 million dollars in layoffs in their online media center, located by clicking here.
Clearwire, on their website, has made the announcement for the over one billion dollar cash infusion in their online newsroom, located by clicking here.
This is a clear slap in the face for their workforce, who have been through a lot since the Sprint Nextel merger in 2006. However, the website does mention that they're offering severance packages to separated employees, and with the 1.176 billion dollars Sprint is giving away, we're confident that there will be plenty of jobs available selling WiMax for Clearwire as they expand their 4G network.
