Cheap international calls on your cell phone
Dialing internationally on your cell phone can be expensive, depending upon how you dial, and what service you use, and whether or not you are dialing a landline phone or a mobile phone. Here are a few revolutionary ways to dial internationally with your cell phone while saving some money in the process.
1) Skype is a very popular provider of long distance and cheap international calls, and offers downloads for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, iPhone, Playstation Portable devices and the Nokia 800 tablet so that you can make calls when you're in a WiFi zone. Skype to Skype calls are free; you can also load your account so that you can dial other mobile phones or landline numbers.
2) Use an international calling card for cheap cell phone calls when dialing out of country. Startec has rates to India and Mexico for as little as 1.9 cents per minute, and allows you to make International Calls from your Cell Phone at Low Rates. No PINs to remember or Monthly Fees.
3) Vonage Mobile also has a mobile phone application that allows you to make calls through the carrier's network or WiFi zone, so long as you have an iPhone, an iTouch, or BlackBerry. They'll even give you a $1 credit so you can make your first international call.
4) If you don't have the time or patience to download an application, you can always use the carrier's international rates to make those international calls. Just be warned that the cell phone carrier prices aren't the best way to make a cheap cell phone call, especially when dialing internationally. We've posted the link for the four major providers:
If you decide to use your carrier's international long distance, and are going to make a lot of international calls, they all have a feature you can add for around four dollars that will make the cost per minute dramatically lower. Also, when figuring out how much you'll pay per minute, there will be an additional charge for dialing out to mobile phones in another country.
