Free WiFi at McDonalds in Mid - January

McDonald's has announced that they will do away with their $2.95 charge for their WiFi in Mid-January, which may represent a huge shift in the way that other coffee shops, like Starbucks offers their Internet access, which in some part of the countries can be as high as $5.99 a day.
McDonald's may be using this as bait to lure customers away from more traditional coffee shops, as it did with their higher end McCafe' products, and turn McDonald's into a place to hang out, rather than a place to drive through.
Keep in mind that just like most open access WiFi hotspots, the information you send and receive will not be secured, and we suggest that if you have sensitive personal data that you don't want to share with others, that you get a mobile broadband card, such as the Virgin Mobile Broadband2go card pictured on the right. With plans starting at $20 a month, it might be good to get you access in between free WiFi Hotspots.
